The Tourism Awards is the largest and most prestigious competition in the Greek tourism industry, judged by leading experts in the field.

This year’s ceremony highlighted the importance of individuals who inspire new ways of thinking and operating. It was dedicated to the memory of Theodoros Vassilakis, founder of Aegean Airlines, in recognition of his exceptional contribution to the industry. The event also celebrated initiatives by both large and small Greek businesses and organizations that stand out for their excellence, innovation and boldness.

Prominent executives and key figures of the tourism sector attended the 6 th Tourism Awards ceremony, held on Tuesday, April 9 th , 2020, at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) and hosted by Doretta Papadimitriou.

The ceremony was attended, among others, by: Charalambos Karimalis, President of the Hellenic National Tourism Organization, George Tziallas, General Secretary of Tourism Policy & Development, George Vassilakis, CEO of the VASSILAKI Automotive Sector, Paraskevi Patoulidou, President of the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization, Dr. Elias Kikilias, General Director of INSETE and Marietta Papavassiliou Vakiani, Deputy Regional Governor of Tourism of the South Aegean Region.

In the Strategy & Innovation category, GEM Travel was honored with the Gold Award for its outstanding contribution to accessible tourism. Our company was recognized for developing inclusive travel services and designing tailored experiences for individuals with disabilities and limited mobility. Through strategic partnerships, specialized staff training, and barrier-free infrastructure, GEM travel has set a benchmark in promoting equal access to tourism in Greece, making travel a possibility-and a pleasure-for everyone.

The Tourism Awards are organized by Boussias Communications Hotel & Restaurant, under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, the Greek National Tourism Organization, Marketing Greece and the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels.
